I am happy to say that the herbs didn’t disappointed and the meal turned out really well. The surprise hit of the evening however came in the form of an iced cider aperitif which I received from our friends Sylvia and Jason for my birthday. I am not sure if it is because we tend to drink a lot of cider over here (Magners, Bulmers, Aspal….mmmm) but this was a really nice change from iced wine which I do find a bit sweet (which is surprising as I could happy devour a bowl of sugar if given the chance). Unfortunately it was purchased in Canada so I don’t think we will be able to get it here but for any Canadians that might be interested, it is called La Face Cachee de la Pomme and from what I understand it is available at LCBO’s. This does mean however that for any Canadians coming to visit, the price of staying in our spare room has now increased from a bottle of duty free Canadian Club Rye to Rye AND a bottle of iced cider.
