Don’t lock your keypad…

5 12 2007

Having the name Adrienne means that I tend to be at the top of most people’s mobile address book (okay sometimes I get knocked from first place if you know an Aaron or Abby) and have received many inadvertent phone calls from people who haven’t locked their mobile keypad.  I generally only hear walking noises, coughing, car sounds but occasionally, bits of a juicy conversation.

Anyway, a Belgian ad agency has come up with a campaign that turns these inadvertent calls into a donation to the blind.  By adding ‘A blind call’ to your address book and their corresponding number the company gets a cut of every accidental call.  All calls are cut off after 30 seconds meaning that the cost to the dialler is never more than EURO 0.75…..pretty smart, although I will miss my random phone calls.

Waste not….

4 12 2007

I do understand being environmentally friendly and not unnecessarily wasting things like paper but this one just taxes my brain a bit too much.   Someone at the University of Leicester has actually come up with a formula to work out the most efficient amount of paper to use when wrapping gifts.  For those of you dying to know, the formula it is A1= 2(ab+ac+bc+c) where A is the area of paper needed and a, b, and c are the dimensions of the gift.

I have enough trouble locating the paper, tape and scissors on Christmas Eve, now I need to find a ruler, calculator and a math genius!
